How should I choose the height of my tripod?
·The general rule for selecting the appropriate height is that, when the tripod is fully extended (with the center column either not raised or raised only partially), the combined height of the tripod, head, and camera should be slightly lower than or equal to the height of your eyes when looking straight through the viewfinder.
·Reference Height: Optimal tripod height = maximum height without extending the center column ≈ your eye level - head height - camera body height.

Can tripods and heads from different brands be mixed and matched?
